The materials presented in the e-Start website are provided voluntarily by the Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) and Central TAFE as a service to our clients. The information and advice provided is made available in good faith and is derived from sources believed to be reliable and accurate at the time of release on the Internet. However, the information is provided solely on the basis that readers will be responsible for making their own assessment of the matters discussed herein and that they should verify all relevant representations, statements and information. Neither the SBDC, its officers nor Central TAFE and its officers, take any responsibility for that statement or representation, nor shall the SBDC and Central TAFE or any of their officers be liable in respect of any such statement or representation, whether by reason of negligence, lack of care, or for any other reason whatsoever.

It is the responsibility of the Internet user to make his or her own decisions about the accuracy, currency, reliability and correctness of information found on those sites.
Privacy
Protecting your privacy and your personal information is an important aspect of the way the SBDC and Central TAFE creates, organises and implements our activities, online and offline. Our Privacy Policy supports and endorses the state and national privacy regimes.
The e-Start website is not set up to automatically collect personally identifiable information from each visitor to our website. We will only collect personal information from you with your prior knowledge and consent. You can access the e-Start website without disclosing personal information.
Use of Information
The e-Start website does track certain information about it visitors for statistical purposes. For example, we compile statistics that show:
- the number of users who have visited;
- the user’s server address,
- the user’s top level domain name (eg. .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc.),
- the date and time of the visit to the site,
- the number of pages accessed, viewed, and documents downloaded,
- the previous site visited and
- the type of browser used.
No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect the service provider’s logs.
How we handle email
In the event you use the “Contact SBDC” email option, on the e-Start website, then your email address and other personal information you may provide will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it. It will not be added to a mailing list — unless you have given specific permission as part of the requested service. Your email address is confidential. We will not use or disclose your email address to any third party without your explicit consent, nor will you get any unsolicited bulk email.
Cookies
In order to complete the “Test your Knowledge” and “Focus on your Business” sections on the e-Start website, we use a feature of your web browser called “cookies”. The browser stores the message in a text file called cookie.txt. The message is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. The cookie does not tell us who you are, or your email address or anything else personal. No personal details are contained in the cookie, and they are not used to retrieve any personal information. Please make sure that your browser is set up to accept our cookies, and please, do not delete them.
Therefore, if you choose to complete the “Focus on your Business” sections and answer each question with your own business details, the information you enter will be collated automatically and stored on your computer. It will then be presented as your personalised reports at the end of each “Focus of your Business” section.
